Happy New Year and a San Antonio Downtown Wedding

We have been so blessed by the amazing couples, vendors, and industry professionals we’ve worked with in 2016 and we’re excited to work with even more lovely couples in 2017.

We know that 2017 is going to be the best year yet, for us and for YOU!

Ed and Tina got married at the beautiful historic San Fernando Cathedral. Here are few of our favorites!

Granberry Hills Wedding

Ashley and Josh were married in San Antonio, Texas at the lovely Granberry Hills in their Hillside Pavilion and Ballroom.

Ashley and Josh have been together since high school. Josh surprised Ashley with a Christmas Day proposal in front of family.  She said, "yes!" and the wedding planning began!  The wedding colors were pink and blue and the bridal party consisted of the couple's siblings.  Ashley looked stunning in a classic white gown and fingertip veil.  Josh was charming in a gray suit and blue bow tie.

The couple exchanged their vows under the covered open air pavilion.  Ashley caught a case of the giggles during the ceremony, highlighting just how loving and silly their relationship is and will continue to be.  After the touching ceremony, the reception began in the beautiful ballroom.  Everyone had tears in their eyes as the couple danced to "Stand By Me'.  The evening ended with a magical sparkler send-off and the couple set off on their new adventure as husband and wife.

Congratulations Ashley and Josh!

Engagement Session 101

What are Engagement Portraits?
Engagement portraits serve two very important purposes.  First, it is an opportunity for you and your wedding photographer to get to know each other before the wedding.  You will see how we shoot and we will get to know you better as a couple.  Knowing what makes each of you and your relationship unique will help us to capture the moments that matter to you most on your wedding day.  Establishing a relationship with us beforehand ensures that everyone is comfortable and ready to go on the big day!

Second, this is a wonderful chance to have portraits taken to document this special time in your lives.   The portraits can be used in many different ways: to decorate your home, to create save-the-date or thank you cards, incorporated into wedding decor, on your wedding website, or for newspaper announcements.

How does an Engagement Session work?
The first thing we do is choose a location and set a time for your session.  Then, on the day of the shoot we will meet at our pre-determined location and get started! I will ask you to interact with each other and suggest poses to bring out your personalities and capture your love on camera.

Where does the Engagement Session take place?
Your Engagement Session can take place almost anywhere.  It can be somewhere historical or beautiful, but mostly it should be meaningful to you.  If you are not sure where you would like to have your session, we would be happy to suggest some locations to you.

What should we wear?
The most important thing to remember about your wardrobe is that you feel your best.  If you are not comfortable in what you are wearing, it will translate to the camera.  We want you looking natural and confident!   Choose clothes that reflect your personality.

It is a good idea for you and your future spouse to coordinate outfits, for example, causal or dressy.  We also suggest you wear colors that compliment each other, but don’t be too matching.

Suggestions on what to wear:

  1. Solids or simple patterns
  2. Fitted clothing (baggy clothes will make you look bigger that you actually are)
  3. Fun or bright accessories like statement necklaces, jackets, scarves, shoes, etc.
  4. A pretty cocktail dress or nice jeans paired with a dressy top for girls
  5. Nice jeans and button up shirt for guys.  Possibly paired with a vest and tie.

What NOT to wear:

  1. Bright white shirts
  2. Busy patterns or horizontal stripes
  3. Clothes with writing or large logos
  4. Anything too short or too tight
  5. Exact matching outfits

Can we bring props?
Props are a super fun way to incorporate your personality and to celebrate what makes your relationship unique in your Engagement Portraits.  Some suggestions include: signs (Save The Date, Thank You, etc.) , instruments, balloons, sports memorabilia, a blanket, or even your pets!
